After last year's absence due to the #CanadaPost strike in 2024, was greeted with the thirty-nineth annual #Xmas card from my old neighbour today.
It's entitled "Christmas Day" and was a pleasant surprise to see after the last four, which cycled through the Sundays of Advent via different coloured candles that were inscribed in English, German, Latvian, then English once more.
Glad to see another card, as I've always enjoyed them. #Christmas #ChristmasDay #ChristmasCard #Tradition #Handmade

Tonight's game was setup to be
a game to remember for you and me

We were never behind, mostly ahead, and also tied,
but when OT ended we cheered with pride

For the Knights have now gone three and oh
if you were in attendance it was quite the show

The ice is ready at "home", as of today. Nice to be back after a couple of weeks away. #JuniorHockey #hockey
And, in addition, @Bigrigtravels has been included in at least one fifteen second video that promotes the company's "Driver Appreciation Month" for this year. Steve had quite the blast working on the commercial shoot. He flew out from Chicago specifically for it after he was contacted not long before via email to be asked to participate. At first, he thought it was not legit, but after getting in contact with them, it was a whirlwind during his upcoming time off that allowed him to go.
It's "Driver Appreciation Month" for the Pilot-Flying J chain of truck stops. @Bigrigtravels is featured in a related marketing campaign (as he was last year) from his work during a photo/video shoot in Albuquerque, NM in late May 2024.
Last year, they had him on their website, as well as on billboards in the U.S.
He's, once again, back on their website's Driver appreciation page (photo 1). Photo 2 is of Steve at the Flying J in Big Springs, NE on 2025-03-25, taken by the BRT "Snowman" camera.
That time of year is almost here... Yet, have had a preview of it already.
For the first time, we held a few pre-camp conditioning skates prior to registration and the actual training camp sessions.
Was pleased to see a decent turnout of both veterans and rookies.
With a new head coach (a player from the last championship team) and two new assistants (our "graduates" from last year) it's setting up to be an anticipated season.

The inline fuel filter was replaced this week. Looking at the old one, it's not quite as bad as it appeared when installed, but worth changing out, regardless. I'm disappointed that cold start times have not improved after these recent servicings. Must be something else going on that's the cause. But, one other thing completed today definitely made a difference, as new door latch bolts replaced the original ones which saw their rubber inserts both crumble to bits last summer. #ChevyTrucks
Well, the carburetor rebuild took longer than anticipated, due to several unforseen problems that were discovered with it after disassembly. You can't go to an auto wrecker to get spare parts anymore as most vehicles in them are all fuel injected.
But, it was reinstalled today, with some adjustments made to get the idle at the right setting.
Also need to change the (discovered today, lol) inline fuel line filter before driving it more.
Still need to work to eliminate a separate engine miss fire.
Quite the day in #Winnipeg as Portage & Main officially reopened to pedestrian traffic for the first time since 1979-02-24. Coincidentally, on this date 25 years ago, had my high school grad dinner at the Fairmont, just a few steps away. AND, as I was sitting watching traffic go by for a bit, another of my fellow grads came across the intersection on his bike. We chatted for a few moments. Don't think he realised the date's significance. #PortageAndMain #pedestrians #GoJetsGo #HighSchoolGrad2000
It has been the final week of the retail business for #HudsonsBay , with both stores in Winnipeg down to selling furniture and fixtures in the remaining few days.
Will be interesting to see what #CanadianTire does with their trademarks in the future. They got a bargain buying it all for 30 001 670$CAN (like the 1670 added on).
The downtown building, which closed as a store in 2020, is presently undergoing a complete transformation into Indigenous-led Wehwehneh Bahgahkinahgohn ("it is visible").
