There was something fuzzy in the toe of my slipper when I put it on this morning. It felt like the shearling wool was bunched up or something. I reached in and tried to smooth it out, but it was something I couldn’t flatten. I tried to pull it out but couldn't get a finger on it. I looked in and thought to myself “That's a foot.” It was a mouse. It was alive.

The cat, #PrincesTigerLily, likes to sleep on my slippers. Sometimes with her face in one of them. She is a weird cat. This is new tho. We don't think she chased the mouse in there. We think she caught it somewhere in the house and put it there for safe-keeping overnight and then couldn't get it out again. The slipper was not where I put it when I went to bed last night. She is a consummate mouser, and this kind of thing is well within her skillset and temperment.

I told co-workers about my wife's Maine Coon. One of them demanded a photo of the cat next to a box of Kraft mac and cheese so he could see how big the breed really is. Turns out, Maine Coons do not want to have anything at all, whatsoever, to do with Kraft mac and cheese. The box has been sitting there all morning, and this is as close as I've seen her come to it.

My luck works in such a way that if I had gone to somewhere under the totality there would have been 100% cloud cover. So stayed home in deference to my friends that aren't so cursed.

But that doesn't mean we won't see anything at all of the eclipse. The NASA tracker said we are still within the 75% coverage area. It is overcast light levels under a clear blue sky. Didn't have the foresight to set glasses, but a couple pieces of paper and a pin allowed us to verify we are eclipsed.
