Tomorrow I’m walking off the job with hundreds of my Washington Post colleagues because the company is breaking the law and bargaining in bad faith. Respect our picket line during our 24-hour strike by avoiding Washington Post journalism on Dec. 7, and send a letter to our bosses here: http://bit.ly/postguildsupport
Workers at the Washington Post deserve a living wage!

The Washington Post says it supports writers. So why won't it pay its workers a living wage? We've been bargaining with the Washington Post for over a year. Journalists, copy editors, designers, marketers, accountants, and so many other employees of the Post have shared why we need a better contract over the past 13 months but they are just not listening. That's why they need to here from you. We've included some text for you below that will send with your name, but please feel free to personalize it with your own words: Are you a longtime reader or subscriber? Why do you value The Post’s journalism? Why do you support its workers in our fight for a fair contract? When you click “Send Letter,” the letter will be automatically sent to the inboxes of interim chief executive Patty Stonesifer and general counsel Jay Kennedy, addressed to them; a copy will also be sent to the Post Guild. Thank you for your support!

@lednabwm @jhavok @forthy42 @antonioserrata @athyHans @_9CL7T9k8cjnD_ @Willow I do not use this format very much, I don't know what it's called even, some sort of group text. So I think this message is from Pooka, since that's the username at the top of the stack here. I went back through this chain as far as I could get and I don't see any questions from Pooka. If there was something that I missed it's far more likely that I failed to use the tech properly than that I simply ignored your question.

@lednabwm @athyHans @jhavok @forthy42 @antonioserrata @_9CL7T9k8cjnD_ @Willow one more try. Are you able to consider the possibility that any leader that you consider to be Christian might have been motivated by similar reasoning? Or will you simply revert to your default position that this person did this hateful thing because they are Christian and Christians are hateful? I don't really expect an intelligent answer, not at this point. I just want to see how exceptional a situation you would have to be presented with to override the obvious brainwashing. I don't despise socialism, I don't particularly dislike Russia as a nation. I don't much care for Putin, but that is more about Ukraine than anything else. I have had an interesting time talking with you all. But if the sum of all your brilliant logic can be expressed as all Christian bad, I would just as soon say goodbye. There are literally millions of other people to interact with.
@lednabwm @athyHans @jhavok @forthy42 @antonioserrata @_9CL7T9k8cjnD_ @Willow please do not presume to know what I have been taught. I was taught to read. Christians do anything, from planting a garden to engaging in genocide, your lot will have it be entirely because they are Christian. My point was very much simpler than the fantasy castle you have constructed. What do you say when atheists do the same things?
@lednabwm @jhavok @forthy42 @antonioserrata @athyHans @_9CL7T9k8cjnD_ @Willow like I said, this time the Christians are the savages and some other people get to play the voice of sanity and reason. It's a really wild script. Most modern anti religious people would see colonialism and all it did as at least mistaken. Then claim that what needs to happen is more or less the same thing because reasons.
@lednabwm @forthy42 @athyHans @jhavok @antonioserrata @_9CL7T9k8cjnD_ @Willow I am no apologist for anything. There have been atrocities committed by people who were in some way attached to many and various religions. There have been atrocities committed by people who did not align themselves with any religion. The common factor here, in my opinion, is that some people like to play dictator. If religion is a path to power for them, if that's what works, they will use it. But in other historical contexts other things work. Ethnicity, connection to a place, there are lots of ways to divide people up and get them to fight each other. That is a big part of what makes these schemes work. If one causes group A to fear and despise group B then one can propose a solution and gain power. It's a recurring pattern. Only this time the PR seems focused on presenting the Christians as the idol worshipping savages and some other group as the voice of sanity and reason. Hope it turns out better than last time, but I have my doubts.
@_9CL7T9k8cjnD_ @[email protected] @antonioserrata @athyHans @jhavok @lednabwm valid point. I enjoy the nuts and bolts aspect of it and wish I were better at translating Greek. This is one aspect of this conversation. Some people are very much opposed to the idea of any so called holy book. The fact that scholars in this field can generally agree that most of this stuff is mostly the same gives a good starting point for this type of scholarly endeavor.
