Clachtoll weather forecast for today, Monday 25 April 2022: fine weather. This is a simple once-daily Zambretti forecast generated from our home weather station data. Current weather conditions are at https://www.vasten.co.uk/weather/
Satisfying. A video conversation going on downstairs from here in Scotland to family in Australia, via our own Nextcloud Talk. No privacy intrusion, no permissions needed, no restrictions (other than our own hardware & bandwidth). Works so well, in spite of the dreadful internet connection we have. @nextcloud
@[email protected] Thanks. Still having difficulty wrapping my head around the terminology (high side, low side etc) But found a Yocto device that looks ideal, except for the price, which is higher than reasonable for a speculative exercise. May try to find a similar knock-off device, as someone n the bird site suggested.

@[email protected] Ah, thanks. Found some references to those, but to be honest, I have no idea how to plumb it in. It seems to be for current flowing through it rather than for measuring, say, current from an external shunt. But my knowledge is extremely sketchy here, so I'll continue reading up about it.
Would love to be able to collect data on wind input and DC output, but I need an ammeter I can connect via the Pi. No idea how to do that. Any suggestions gratefully received. Wind = 20A max, output 100A max.
Woohoo. I'm on a roll here. Now added offgrid battery voltage and solar amperage to the weather page https://www.vasten.co.uk/weather top left. This is just what I needed, a reason to hack a bit of python and bash. The data is collected by a Pi Zero in the battery shed, connected via a serial cable to the Tristar PWM controller. At night, the "Solar Amps" on the web page bit should disappear.
@athair_birb Same re an xmpp client. We've been using gajim, as it has been about the best when we also use Conversations on our phones, syncing messages when using omemo. Dino seems ok, but fell into the hype trap, no update to 0.2 for over a year. The killer negative for me is no system tray integration, so you have to have to manually check it, rather than just glance for new messages. pidgin needs love, but works ok-ish.
