OH MY HEART...the Oberlin Luddites Reject "The Year of AI Exploration"! 💚 alt-text posted here https://kolektiva.social/@Aline_Fuller/116295063165409755 #ai
@loriemerson well, that is well done! on multiple levels with the medium being the message and all that...

@Androidauth @features-Androidauth nope. locking down android is absolute shite. teach users instead. same with age verification thing. teach users...dont cuff them.

also, that article is long-winded, and repeats itself too many times to not be AI.

is a human still behind @androidauth? if not, i'm out

@Garonenur @Edmonds_Scanner i had the book as a kid, and used to study this drawing intently. i really wanted to live there, to be a semi-retired wizard, puttering with telescopes and potions, studying dusty tomes and magical items.
@Garonenur @Edmonds_Scanner it was in a book about the world of titan from the 'fighting fantasy' rpg universe created by steve jackson and ian livingston. internet says Russ Nicholson...
@yelof did you ever find this?
@Edmonds_Scanner
like gareth yaztromo! i used to stare at a particular drawing of one such secret library:

I don't know how I got added to the AI snake oil working group, but by golly I'm having fun.

Free tip for AI snake oil merchants: if you're struggling to answer a simple technical query and somebody seemingly helpfully suggests to use your software to resolve it, this is what we call "a trap".

Under no circumstances allow your software to pull down its pants and expose itself in front of everybody. Especially if the helpful person was smiling when they suggested it.

@nixCraft zero, but i had 128KB RAM.

i was unable to save my work. instead, i would write my program on paper so i could type it in again next time i wanted to use the computer.

eventually i got a floppy drive, and then my program didn't evaporate when i turned off the computer lol.

that was a huge upgrade haha.

@nixCraft i wonder what "run0 systemd-tmpfiles --purge" does...remove root's home? double the delicious bloat-fun!!

anyway, kids will be posting this "feature" command on reddit as a remedy for any systemd issue and folks will be blindly copy pasting it...i can see it now.

lulz.
