I’m not connecting these dots. I’m just pointing out that the dots are there.

I personally consider "I asked ChatGPT to generate a response to you" not witty but a form of an insult. Don't do that please. If that is how you want to talk to people at least don't tell me. It's offensive.

@ij Wouldn't two 25 Gbit/s Links enable a combined throughput of around 6 GB/s or am I overseeing something about Ceph?
Even over only one link up to 3 GB/s should be possible (provided the drives support that speed).

Please excuse me if it's something obvious.

Wegen der Sicherheitslücke in Windchill und ZeroPLM schickten mehrere Landeskriminalämter Polizeibeamte zu betroffenen Unternehmen. Die sind irritiert.

When lawmakers and advocacy groups frame queer existence itself as a threat to young people, age-verification laws become ideological enforcement instead of regulatory policy. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2026/03/rep-finke-was-right-age-gating-isnt-about-kids-its-about-control
Rep. Finke Was Right: Age-Gating Isn’t About Kids, It’s About Control

What’s at stake is whether “protecting children” becomes a legal pretext for embedding government control over the internet to enforce specific moral and religious judgments—judgments that deny marginalized people access to speech, community, history, and truth—into law.

Every now and then a photo appears in my notifications as someone spots the potential for Something Silly.

Sometimes the photographers are very kind and say "go for it". Thanks to @cheriecreationstruck for this one.

@sundogplanets, Aaron Boley, and I have written an article in The Conversation Canada about the extremely stupid idea of putting a million satellites into orbit as AI data centres. We include some new simulations of how many satellites will be visible in the night sky if this goes ahead (left) compared to all the Starlink satellites already visible today (right). It's bad.
