media historian who loves dancing/hiking/journalism -- also still (for now) @willthewordguy on Twitter and Tumblr. A bit more about me: I'm an assistant professor at the Manship School of Mass Communication at LSU, where I study and teach media history (and media law). My (current) main research area(s) of interest involve news work and the history of communication technology and how (painful and unpredictable!) large-scale transitions tend to be -- in my case, from analog to digital.

Women news workers use teletypesetters in the late 1950s — #research #mediahistory
from 'Byte' from Jan. 1993 -- "luggables" do not look like fun (and the laptops are no joke either!) -- check it out, @juliettedm ! found this as part of research with Fanny Ramirez on gender in early internet advertising ...

Despite the dinner chaos, sous vide is still a great way to make burgers 🍔 during the week for the fam (potatoes and roasted corn on the side!)
Early tea time — means *starting to* catch up on work emails, as a way to ease back into work — I’m hoping to save the bulk of prep/writing for next week, however, and do odds/ends/some reading this week to wake my brain up as we wrap up holiday family stuff #balance
