Doing stuff in data protection, healthcare law and privacy-by-design. Moonlight as digital rights activist. Innocent bystander in infosec scene.
The interplay between the GDPR and the proposed AIact discussed on this @[email protected] blog based on an analysis of case law. https://fpf.org/blog/gdpr-and-the-ai-act-interplay-lessons-from-fpfs-adm-case-law-report%ef%bf%bc/ Some interesting conclusions for EU policy geeks.
Now that mastodon.social is creaking, I am looking for a different instance to move to. Legal.social would have been an obvious choice, but they aren't accepting new users, anyone else who knows a law-focused Mastodon instance?
@PoliticalPossibilities Communism has a worse environmental record than both Capitalism and Fascism. So there's a bit of a burden of proof here.

Hello #fediverse! We’re excited to finally join the club and will be posting all things #DigitalRights here.

EDRi is a network of 47+ NGOs, experts & academics working to defend and advance digital rights across the continent. For almost 2 decades, we have served as the backbone of the digital rights movement in Europe.

We will try to reply to any comments or questions here but please bear with us, our comms colleagues have a lot of different channels to manage :)

@rvaneijk Oh I see, yes, that should be the case. We don't know how robust the software is yet, though.
@rvaneijk It is inherent to activitypub that your DMs are subject to the goodwill of other node admins. Think Fidonet.
@[email protected] @DrWhax @rysiek @SolarpunkPrompts Am not here to "win" arguments. Merely stating a fact. And yes, embedded CO2 is a thing. Recycling, including the blades, is also pretty much a solved issue. Go take your fearmongering to the nearest open pit coal mine.
People often lock their bird site accounts to hide their posts when eg applying for jobs. But you *can’t hide past posts* on Mastodon, only delete them. Locking just turns your account into approval for new followers. If you’re posting something you don’t or may not want publicly visible, either (less reliably) use followers-only/DM post visibility from the start, turn on post auto deletion after a few weeks, or (more reliably) consider not posting it at all and putting it elsewhere.
@jentaub It is pretty much anathema to European university culture to log on from hospital while being in such situation. You telling her to log off BTW was not the thing that triggered my remark, more me being flabbergasted at a student needing to be told in this situation.
