I posted my first "weeknotes" seven years ago today. I had no idea that I would keep up the practice as long as I have and as frequently as I have in the past few years

This last week was not a normal work week for me. I have worked remotely for the past five years and have never met any of the people I have worked with in person. All of my interactions have been through Slack, emails, phone calls, and Zoom. Well, that all changed this week. A portion […]
I was inspired by @geoff 's post in January about his changing roles to reflect and celebrate the fact that I am "still here." I am grateful that I found a place where my skills and experience are valued and needed.

In January, I read Geoff Graham’s article, Changing Roles. It dawned on him that somehow at sometime, he stopped being a web designer. It was not something he necessarily intended to happen. I have used subgrid to solve several layout problems recently in my work. I share lessons that I have learned and examples. I also point to some examples in @joshwcomeau's recent article on subgrid.

I have seen several people (Chris Coyier, David Bushell) post about their default apps for 2026 so I thought I would join the party. I also updated my Uses page. Desktop Mobile (different than desktop) Tablet (different from desktop or phone) Related articles or pages
There are many different ways that I could tell the story of my year. One way is through numbers. It doesn’t tell the whole story, but it gives a good sense of my journey and a starting point to share what shaped my year.
Playing around with grid-lanes in a personal project. I 💟 love feature queries. I like that the syntax takes advantage of existing code in CSS grid. So much easier to learn.
