It was over this bridge that, in 1798, #Napoleon's troops carried off the Bernese state treasury (estimated at 600+ billion Swiss francs in today’s terms) to help fund the Egyptian campaign. Of course, part of that treasury had earlier been taken by #Bern from its subject territories, etc.
