As a child, sci-fi was my favourite genre. Growing up in 1980s Soviet Russia, we didn’t have shows like Star Trek— I caught up later. It was the work of Soviet sci-fi authors that first sparked my love for the genre. Stories set in deep space, especially, always made me reflect on my own place in the universe.

Xylaria longipes, aka dead moll's fingers. Shot couple of winters ago in north of Brandenburg at the Barnim natural park. A 2008 study concluded that the species could improve wood for the purposes of making violins.
