Try @w8emv for general purpose tech, @w8emv for Ann Arbor content, @w8emv for ham radio content, and a few other servers around the net for other things which you can find if you deduce a pattern.
My strong preference is for systems where the `local` timeline is slow moving, "on topic" for some topic, has people I know in it who are looking to engage in conversations, and therefore not a mega-server.
