Vernissage is an independent, open-source, photography-first platform built for people who care about photos - not ads, algorithms, or faceless corporation. Powered by ActivityPub, it connects with Mastodon, Pixelfed, and the wider Fediverse. Built with passion by the community and sustained by patron support, Vernissage stays free, open, and focused on photographers.

@pixelfedfans The Android version will be available when someone writes it - or when someone buys me an Android device and sponsors the development 😄😉
@xoxe That’s awesome! For now, it’s not possible. I need to move all English strings to the translation dictionary. But after that, I’ll ask for your help. 🤩

I’ve recently received a few requests to change the layout on the status page with a photo. I had a little time today to take a look at it, and I think you’ll like the final result (see the screenshots). The photo now takes up much more space on the screen - as it should.

And the best part: you can check it out yourselves, because it’s already live on vernissage.photos.

@rickscully Unfortunately, I’m not able to write something like that - I’ve got too many other things on my plate at the moment. But maybe someone else can.

Please note an important detail about Vernissage for iOS: it is a dedicated client that connects ONLY to #Vernissage instances (while communication between servers is handled via ActivityPub).

It does not support Mastodon, Pixelfed, or other services. Vernissage uses a different, in some areas more extensive, API. Unfortunately, many Fediverse apps imitate Mastodon by exposing the same API, which can lead users to believe that this is how the Fediverse works by default. 😉

After weeks of development and testing, Vernissage for iOS is now available to everyone. It’s free, with no in-app purchases, no tracking, and no privacy-invasive mechanisms.

Thank you to everyone who shared valuable feedback during testing. Notification improvements and push notifications are still on the roadmap.

@bjh Great to hear from you. I thought Stripe sent an email or notification whenever a new payment came in. I didn’t receive anything like that, so I hadn’t even checked it. But you’re right - there are payments there as well. I’ll withdraw the funds in April and include them in the April invoice for services. Thanks so much for the payment and for letting me know. It looks like I’ll need to check there at the end of each month as well.

@Tutanota I like Vernissage better than Pixelfed for posting photos, it's more visual.

The March financial report for vernissage.photos is now available.

Thank you to all existing Patrons - your support keeps #Vernissage alive. There is no corporation, no sponsor, no ads, and no algorithms behind it - only community support.

If you use Vernissage, please consider becoming a Patron. That is the only way this independent platform can keep running.

Also: a little surprise is coming on Easter Monday. 🌿

March 2026 - Financial report

TL;DR: This month, the total operating cost of the https://vernissage.photos platform was $403.52, of which $307.43 was contributed by patrons. I’m incredibly grateful for this support - especially for one very generous one-time donation that helped a lot in covering this month’s expenses.Below is a detailed financial report for the operation of https://vernissage.photos during the month of March

@kallekn Thank you for the information. I’ve restarted the service this morning. 👍
