This summer, Van Wylen Library had a refresh to the second and third floors, including new paint, carpet and a remodel of the Digital Media Lab (DML). The Sound Room was also upgraded with acoustic sound panels and an audio interface to provide higher quality recordings. The DML is an evolving, tech-forward library space with equipment and services that facilitate digital literacy and cross-disciplinary experimentation.

Rudine Sims Bishop, Professor Emerita of Education at The Ohio State University, came up with the concept of mirrors and windows in literature. Literature can reflect our lives back to us and it can also help us see another point of view and how someone else lives.

By working as an office and mending associate in the Technical Services department, Grace Mooney gets an up-close look at the inner workings of Van Wylen Library. “I assist in physically protecting and cataloging our new books,” she said. “I ensure their longevity. I also nurse our library materials back to health. It can certainly feel a bit impolite to dismantle the books before restoring them, but such discomfort spurs reward.”
