To #create chaos,
Unending complexity.
Spiraling patterns of
Infinite depth, order
In disorder, entropic
Meshes in a nonsensical
Universe. Spinning
Forever drunk.

We had a #picnic down by the lake. Ern brought the mushrooms, their caps red-purple as a midsummer sunset. We were all gigglish, I'm sure you can #relate.
An hour passed and the grass warbled into tiny creatures, funny voices cracking as they screamed when we tore them apart, blades of grass floating off among the endless stars. Time stretched and died, and died, and died.

I woke up alone. Naked. Skin a glistening red.

I am so alone.

Help.

The city lay before us, on squares of red and white,
Food stacked up like towers, blind to coming blight.
The giants fought valiantly, they swung and showed their might,
They quickly fell before us, their dying a swollen sight.

We dined on blood that day, took all food, fine and basic,
Dragged live colossi to our hive, who moaned then all took sick.
Soon more arrived in numbers, gave us gasoline and flame lick,
To avenge their conquest of nature, their humble #picnic.

I retain the #balance at a terrible cost, to them that is. I squash them with my thumb, or grind them with my teeth, or sometimes throw them in the #fireplace, alive, and watch them burn.
I can't have these pests, these... humans, living in my house and soil it with their little existence. Their impertinence. Baah.
Not while I have nicer things to eat.

I will be returning to #Horror365 on April 1st! Following in the footsteps of other prompts it will be now posted around midnight (EST) so you'll have plenty of time to frighten us.

In addition, we will be sharing the prompts set to a weekly theme and will be hosting a monthly flash fiction competition! Once a month, on the 15th you'll be encouraged to share ANY of your horror flash fiction writing. Can you terrify the fediverse? Most likes wins!

The first week's theme is "House of Horrors"!

Like the oceans we rise, while there is still a planet to #save. The people, united as one, taking power, breaking away from the chains of the capitalist lie we have been spoon-fed for generations. We stand in solidarity, demand equality for all.

The powers that be will tremble, topple, and implode, unable to withstand the pressure against the rotten foundation they've built their empire on.
Our moment is here, it is time for change.

Now rise.

There is nothing left to #discuss and I slash. The witch's head lolls to the side, smirking, his beard red with blood. I #stab his eyes, left first, for the spells, then right for the faith.
Red puddles form in the sockets; I pull back his head and drink, gelatinous chunks of tissue, an iron aftertaste.
His power burns through my veins, colours brighten, my pulse accelerates.
I am awake, I am alive.

I am Death incarnate.

Revin took a last sip of his tea, then went to push back from the table.
"Pardon me, Sir Revin," Lady Boxhead said. "But there is yet one matter I would #discuss."
"Milady," Revin said, leaning back in his chair.
He studied her. She had been confident & gracious until now, but now her eyes were downcast. Her cheeks reddened & she brought a hand up to her chest, nervously.
"Is your bodyguard truly to be trusted?" she whispered.
Revin smiled.
"I trust him with my life & honor," he said.

“You tricked me!”
“Well, yes.” The Fae winced, retreating as his glamour flickered back in full force to shroud him in the illusion of an elderly man. His eyes darted to the iron horseshoe in her fist. “But it was necessary. Can we discuss this like civilized beings?”
“Oh, but I’m human and we’re not civilized at all,” she said, feeling a rush of vindictiveness. She thrust her arm out and he fell backward into his chair in his panic to avoid the iron.
“Wait! Wait.”

I felt the caress of the water, the jaguar said. I felt the swipe of the crocodile's claws. My jaws clamped down, and I dragged him, dripping from the river.
Epic! the cats cheered.
Maybe it was a caiman, not a crocodile, said the jaguar.
