Heads up! If my handle looks different soon, it's because I'm migrating to a new Mastodon instance.

In the interest of less "drinking from the firehose" when it comes to local posts, I'll be living on outdoor.lgbt.

Mastodon #PetPeeve: all the former birdsite blue checks who are broadcasting and not reading their replies here at all, even though they have only a fraction of the followers they did there.

Honestly moving to Mastodon from the bird site feels like I just switched to PBS after years of exclusively watching a reality TV show called, I don't know, EXTREME HATEFEST: ORGY ISLAND or something.

Like, yeah, of course it's going to be a little jarring but trust me it's better this way.

We have posters!

Re:"The wild amount of support we've been receiving" My neighbor just told me he wants to print us stickers and make magnets for #ClimbOut!!

The community is amazing!

Next month Climb Out (IG:climboutpride) will be hosting Santa Barbara's first ever Queer Climb Night!
We've started Climb Out with the goal of elevating #Queer #Trans and other self-identified #LGBTQIA2S+ voices in the #climbing and #outdoor communities. The initial support has been amazing and we're really excited to see where this leads.
Folks we haven't even had our first meeting yet and people want merch.
We've already been approached by members of the community about getting a booth at next year's #Pride.

The wild amount of support we've been receiving has been astounding. It really feels like everyone has wanted/needed this but didn't know where to turn.

The local #climbing gym is partnering with us, multiple professional guides have reached out offering services. The American Alpine Club wants to help us get 501c(3)!

So what started as "This was wonderful, I'd love to see this in my own community, too bad I don't have time" has turned into starting a new organization and running outreach.
