@timnitGebru
This is probably the same reason he got snookered by ppl like Tulsi Gabbard in the first place
@timnitGebru I am pro-giving Dair a billion for altruistic reasons! Lol
@tiffanycli the one thought that I came to mind is that he (or at least his wife) runs a science/health funding org/foundation, and they are likely well aware of dopamine, addition medicine, and the reward pathways in the brain...
@siracusa this game is way too much stress
@atpfm @caseyliss @siracusa @marcoarment on the BMW i3, to my eye, I think what happened is that the committee members, lawyers and regulatory compliance people probably watered down the original design. I always feel like car companies should just build their concept vehicle versus what ends up shipping. Eg this is the neue klasse concept car up close-it really looks striking and w proper 3 series proportions. The final release looks like they injected some Camry into it
@daringfireball also, given the apple hardware popularity amongst AI modelers (also given than Apple makes 100x more of them than nvidia makes GPUs), the AI play is to have a focused/dedicated API/drivers unit that makes Metal equal/better than CUDA; make the pickaxes instead of jumping into the mining for gold thing

@daringfireball In a sense, despite criticisms of Cook for certain things (app store, rent seeking, China dependence, software foibles, trump whispering), as a broad strategic direction with Apple Silicon, hardware roadmaps and AI/postpandemic hiring discipline, he is arguably still the best tech CEO in the business....

Re the retiring bit, I think he'll try and outlast the trump admin before turning it over to Ternus.

@daringfireball granted, it really is the future when a hall of fame linebacker is talking semiconductor industry details with an Apple CEO
ICE apparently staged out of the parking lot of the Star market on Beacon this morning. Word is that they headed into Cambridge. If you see them, call LUCE: 617-370-5023
@arstechnica it’s almost as bad as motion smoothing on tvs!
