In 2002, Larry Wall, the inventor of Perl, answered a reader question on Slashdot: "How can a scientific or at least technical mind believe in God?" I hope you enjoy his answer as much as I did: https://interviews.slashdot.org/story/02/09/06/1343222/larry-wall-on-perl-religion-and

This is a mood for sure
Salmon back at it even after the ginormous flood subsided here near the Raging River (off the Snoqualmie River). The river and stream were crazy balls. Like super insaneβ€”I saw multiple large trees on their sides in the river today. These fish are world-class endurance athletes and face so many dangers from loss of habitat to predators to floods. Respect 🫑
We could hear the boulders rolling in the water! This is the Raging River near Preston, WA. #wawx

The chicken run is flooding, and the ducks are loving it. They are living their best ducky lives! πŸ¦†

The Raging River lives up to its name once in a while.

Snoqualmie Falls must be something. I can't get out there today, but will try on Thursday.

I spent some time up in the treehouse last night to listen to the rain. It was coming down so hard that I discovered a leak in the chimney, unfortunately. It wasn't that bad and stopped when the intensity lessened. Turn on the sound on the video to hear the rain on the roof.

During the winter, it's good to get up there and get the stove going hot once in a while. I think it helps to dry up the moisture and prevent things from molding.

If I get a chance, I'll check out Snoqualmie Falls this week. I expect massive amounts of water flowing over the falls as we're expecting 5+" of rain over the next few days. Exciting!

"As he has come to know, Andy’s grief for the things that are lost affirms his love for them, as even the loss of them affirms the bounty by which they once existed, for in this world grief goes hand in hand with gratitude."

~ Wendell Berry, from his latest (and last?) novel, Marce Catlett: The Force of a Story

This quote really hit home for me today as I'm missing my grandpa. Grief goes hand in hand with gratitude.
