@cwebber i'd also add that there seems to be a much higher proportion of offerings that are proprietary or cost money. if you're not netflix or the bbc, then you're kind of cut off from the good tooling that a lot of people recommend. so you either have to load documents into memory with something like rdflib in python, or get your jvm setup so you can run... apache jena? rdf4j? i'm not really sure what i'd recommend to most people...

@cwebber in all seriousness it's not the ideas or the thinkers, it's actually a discovery issue from what i've found mostly. for someone who's unfamiliar with it all, what's your entry point? how do you play around with the smallest possible slice of the problem space? for something like a database people know mariadb and postgres but if you ask them to pick out a triple store could they even name one? maybe they can write a sparql query, but how do they execute it?

anyone know of any good free checking accounts? my current checking account recently instituted a $5/month charge and this is as good a time as any to move off, but idk what my other options are.

my main considerations are:

- no fees
- no interest
- a website that doesn't suck

@chris @gummibunny that's fine, tap to pay doesn't work for me because of safetynet / play integrity, and i don't use zelle. i just want a website that doesn't suck, bonus points if it doesn't require sms and supports at least totp

internet searches seem to blame fractional scaling or multiple monitors but it still happens even when i disable all my monitors except 1 and also i always use 100% scaling (and attempting GDK_SCALE=1 doesn't fix it either)

weird problem with wayland + mutter where exactly 2 overlays and nowhere else seem to think i am hovering about 50-100 pixels vertically above my mouse, but only while i am inside that overlay's bounds:

- firefox click-and-hold on the back button
- steam overlay in-game with shift+tab

the firefox one stops happening when i launch it with MOZ_ENABLE_WAYLAND=0

the steam overlay one i haven't managed to fix
