Shiny new tools won’t fix your problem - Trisha Gee

Abstract AI, productivity, and the parts of software that didn’t get easier Generative AI can help us produce code faster than ever before, but faster code generation does not automatically translate into faster or safer delivery. In practice, AI acts as an amplifier: teams with strong engineering fundamentals improve, while teams with existing bottlenecks and ... Read more

I ended up with 106 slides, and it does more or less take 50 mins. So... I did it, and the talk is still 5 hours away!
Are you hiring developers? I'm super interested to know what has changed over the last few years with the rise of AI when you're hiring devs. I expect a) you're using AI tools to help you recruit and b) you're looking for different skills when you're evaluating devs. Is this true? I'm looking for recruitment stories to feature on the Modern Software Engineering channel.
Job hunting as a developer is a nightmare, right? Tell me your stories of navigating the recruitment process as a dev looking for a job, and if you've been in the game for a while, tell me how it's changed lately
(I want to use these stories on the Modern Software Engineering channel)
Am I taking longer generating pretty backgrounds for my slides than I am creating actual content for my slides? Yes, yes I am
Alright people. I'm creating a new talk for DevoxxUK next week, and as usual I want your insights into The Real World. If you're using AI as a developer or engineering leader, let me know which fundamentals or "stuff that we've known for ages" are helpful.

This is possibly my favourite talk I've given in the last couple of years. It's about how to apply the stuff you've learnt at a conference (or through research) and how to convince your bosses that you need time to play.

We completed the half marathon! And we beat our target time. And we didn't die (yet)! Please throw some appreciative pennies at the donate button if you haven't already

Today, @HelenJoScott and I are running the #llhalf for Prostate Cancer UK. If you want to donate a little to motivate us, that would be enormously helpful!

Next week, I'm giving one of my favourite talks (about Code Review) at an event in Seville. The talk is in English, the rest of the event is probably Spanglish on my part. Sign up here:
