Run-of-the-mill luddite. I like watching 90s anime movies with my kids. Loved #running and #3dprinting for the past decade.
Welcome to 2026. Your average morning headlines:
- That TV show you love is cancelled
- That celebrity you like is, unfortunately, a transphobe
- Record storm and/or heatwave somewhere in the world
- Computers are worse & more costly than even one day before
- Cat photos tho
My wife made me realize that I'm really bad with money when it comes to gizmos and doodads. The Commodore phone is coming out, but on some level, I don't actually need to get it. Instead, I should just keep using my pixel 9, but uninstall things that I don't need, and I really don't even have an account associated with it since I'm using GrapheneOS. Buying a new phone right now seems like a bad financial decision.

much more accurate

To celebrate 250 years of the USA I've been reading and listening to books about the founding and histories of legislation. The Hamilton biography by Chernow was the first one I listened to about a specific person. I'm only into the late 1780s but I keep thinking "man I hope they get this country figured out".
Father’s Day isn’t a real holiday. It was created by Big Dad to sell more BBQ equipment and golf doodads. Don’t be fooled.

I could use a slow contemplative day at work to perfect my Robot for World Domination instead of The Widgets of Capital Extraction.

But the kanban board of misery rules my life and all I can do is comply.

I am a few minor inconveniences away from moving to the woods with a point-to-point remote connection to another location so that I can post to mastodon with a teletype.
My kid did an art today at summer art camp. I'm super proud. He does not want to go for the rest of the week. I gotta put the pressure on him to go tomorrow.
I don't have a ton of packages installed with the AUR, but in light of recent events, I am making it a habit to review PKGBUILD files for post hooks.
More people should use filters to hide content about stuff they don't wanna see, regardless of how anyone feels about content warnings on posts
