Three things commonly precede decline into a totalitarian state. 1) Crack down on journalists, researchers, civil society orgs. 2) Oligarchs align with and became synonymous with the government. Contracts are a reward for loyalty. 3) Capture of the courts and law enforcement Given enough time and complacency, thereâs a clear destination for this path. Itâs weird how many of your grandparents nearly died trying to escape what youâre looking dead in the eyes like âhow bad could it be?â
