National Today
oh yeah. mastodon. I forgot about that.
No, I'm not going to enable 2FA on my infosec.exchange account. I think I'd rather just have fewer accounts than have more authentication requirements.
This!
Time for a new variation on a classic.

I recently purchased a #Google #Pixel9a phone to replace my failing phone. So far I have to say that I'm not impressed.

  • The AI features are just crap.
  • The thing has good battery life, but at the expense of being heavy as hell.
  • the case that google sells is incredibly bad. It's slick and serves no useful function.
  • Many functions won't work without an account on the phone. That's not by accident - Google has gone all in on scraping data out of users. The best example I can think of is "battery optimization", which you can only use if you install an account on the phone. Another example is the SMS app, which now requires a google account. Luckily you can still install alternatives.
  • Overall I'd say it's a pass. I preferred my #Oneplus 5t from 7 years ago.

How I improved my #mastodon user experience.

Bob McEliece was a friend of mine. The Classic McEliece team is certainly no Bob McEliece.
