Having worked for and served on the board of a radical nonprofit I can confidently say that any group which incorporates as a nonprofit eventually ceases to be radical. Further, continued participation deradicalizes it's membership.
The people involved will spend the majority of their energy working to continue being a nonprofit, navigating regulations, and worrying about legal compliance.
They will take activists and turn them into bosses and managers. They will spend their energy building their own little bureaucracy and managing their copyrights, trademarks, and intellectual property. All of this will be the primary job of the nonprofit, and whatever it's purported mission was will become secondary.
