company in question is a subsidiary of a french multinational business process outsourcing company. bad as uk govt delivery is, imagine thinking "aha you know who does bureaucracy well? the french"
the compnay that handles visa applications for the british state just charged my girlfirend £50 to scan some printouts that she had to pay to have printed after they refused to answer her question about whether she could send the files digitally. joke country

thinking about starting a magazine for people who think making food and eating a big part of your culture is bad. sort of like an anti-woke vittles. would only run to one issue of course
i know people like the gritty cynicism/liberal progressivism of the Watch books more and that's probably objectively more interesting but i'm still really fond of the parody of academia in the form of wizards.since i didn't know anybody who'd been to university growing up, that probably shaped my positive feelings about esoteric knowledge more than anything else
i've been listening to the first couple of discworld books on my runs this week. haven't revisited them since i was a teen. it's fun: i know later books are better and tbh i find pratchett more enjoyable in small doses these days but still going back the early ones is like rewatching the simpsons in adulthood: i reckon over half of the jokes must have gone over my head first time around
i kind of hated the folksy verbs claude code would print while working ("warping", "infusing", "boondoggling", "flibbertigibbetting" &c.) until I learned you can customize; now occasionally when I use it "sex-arseing" pops up and i have a little giggle
lmao
