File under “kids these days”: I introduce myself to a young adult, they (tentatively) shake my hand, and then … nothing. I have to ask, “What’s your name?” The once-standard social custom of a reciprocal greeting seems to be going the way of the rotary phone.
wearing headphones/earbuds all day at the office is weird (in general, unless you have a sensory condition) - tell me you don’t like being in community with people without telling me you don’t like being in community with people.
i get “i’m going to cook you and eat you” vibes from the blond dude in this #apretude commercial 😳🫣😰
MAGA prefers identity protection to outcomes: under democrats, inflation symbolizes elite failure; under republicans, MAGA reframes it as foreign disruption, inherited damage, or necessary sacrifice. Their leader is not a manager that needs to be held to account. Their leader is a restoration fantasy and protection against humiliation — the emotional narrative is more important.

“create your own reality” is a progressive rallying cry to manifest a better world + question the official narrative. it’s an aspirational metaphor encouraging imagination and personal agency.

authoritarians hijack it to push a regressive agenda with “alternative facts.” they deny shared evidence to evade accountability.

then progressives have to remind everyone that there actually is objective truth: *futures* are made, but *facts* are not - truth is not optional.

“This is potentially destroying all of the progress that we have made, working together between local and federal law enforcement officials in a very coordinated way, to actually go after the worst of the worst”

… intentional damage.

Prosecutors Began Investigating Renee Good’s Killing. Washington Told Them to Stop.

Federal prosecutors had a warrant to collect evidence from Ms. Good’s vehicle, but Trump administration leaders said to drop it. About a dozen prosecutors have departed, leaving the Minnesota U.S. attorney’s office in turmoil.

as far back as the inappropriate response to COVID or before, the drumpf administrations have been intentionally inflicting lasting damage on communities. it’s their m.o.
