My interests vary wildly from politics to poetry and philosophy. I'm a born contrarian but my bark is worse than my bite, and I appreciate detailed posts, sharp commentary, verbal repartee and quirky habits. Some of my quirks are #FountainPens, #birding, and all manners of idealist thought. Committed to fairness, democracy, and environmental stewardship. Proud lifelong #Dem

I was on another server but it was closing down, so I switched to this instance. I'll say in advance, "Happy to meet you."

Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz went to Trump's new prison camp in FL--"Alligator Alacatraz"--and made a strong statement on the spot about the horrific conditions in the camp. One of the first responses to the video clip with her on Bluesky was, "Ask her about Gazans who have it worse." The poster got a stern rebuke from someone much smarter. We're tired of the #whataboutism, the #EchoChamber, the lack of #empathy for anything but pet causes among some on the #left.

I'm not one to pass up on a bit of Schadenfreude. Americans will enjoy cheaper prices on food this Thanksgiving. Thank you, Joe Biden. Prices will rise under Trump. For everyone who voted for the wanna-be dictator, you deserve the pain that's coming.

This post from Bill McKibben reminded me that in my experience women are braver than men when it comes to opposing abuse of power.

Yet another reason to vote for #harris

Oct 7 has already arrived in the Midldle East. We're an hour away in the US. This year has been shattering for many reasons--the hate, the violence, the assault on truth. You'd have to have a heart of stone not to be affected.

The pictures of this father and his special needs daughter at the Nova festival always brings me to tears. The father went b/c music was one thing that made his daughter happy. Her terror in his and her final moments is unimaginable.

The Last Dance of Arik and Ruth: Art, AI, and the Nova Festival Massacre - Culture Treasures

On October 7, 2023, Hamas terrorists committed a massacre at the Nova Festival in Israel. The short animation film "The Last Dance of Arik and Ruth," available to watch at Culture Treasures magazine, tells the tragic story of Ruth Perez, born with cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy, and her father Arik, who were both killed during the attack. Directed by Doron Solomons, the film combines AI technology and interviews to honor their memory and recount their journey in the Psytrance community.

I must say I find this Schadenfreudelicious. Ukrainian soldiers pose in front of Gazprom's offices in the Russian city of Sudzha, now under Ukrainian control. #SlavaUkraïni
Saw this on the birdsite and can't like it enough. It's Warren World that's trying to tank Joe Biden because Warren World thinks they and Warren know more than anyone else. She doesn't and they don't. Hillary Clinton was and is a policy hound. Warren's a populist. She stirs up grievance.

I like this tweet below from Ha'aretz and Economist reporter Anshel Pfeffer, as well as his further statement that,"141 countries, most of whom Israel has diplomatic ties with, recognize a Palestinian state. It hasn’t changed anything and 3 more countries won’t either."

I'm really surprised #Norway is engaging in such theatrics. I expect it from #Spain and #Ireland.
