The measure of a truly compassionate and just society lies in how we care for our most vulnerable members. At TNGCS we've always provided the highest-quality programs and services to support people in need. But that's not enough. We must tackle the systemic injustices and inequalities that persist at every level of society, from the local to the national and its why we will always work collaboratively with our community to develop innovative solutions and build a more equitable future for all.

We believe overdose prevention is a human right, and we will not stand by while this harmful bill goes unchallenged. Together, we will continue to fight for the health, safety, and dignity of all.

We are arguing that the Act violates the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and is unconstitutional, as it infringes on Canada’s jurisdiction over criminal law.

TNGCS CEO Bill Sinclair was also grateful for the support at today's press conference from former Toronto mayors Barbara Hall and John Sewell. They eloquently reinforced the importance of SCS facilities for caring for all of our city's residents.

TNG Community Services is challenging the Community Care and Recovery Act (Bill 223), a bill that forces the closure of at least 10 Supervised Consumption Sites (SCS) across Ontario, including our Kensington Market Overdose Prevention Site (KMOPS).

TNGCS, alongside applicants Katie Resendes and Kitchener-based Jean-Pierre Aubry Forgues, is taking legal action and seeking a court order from the Ontario Superior Court of Justice.
