Kinda like this little turtle that shows up in Firefox DevTools when a resource is slow to load. Wouldn't mind a little splash of red or something to make it stand out, but still.
First potato bucket harvest of the year.
@davatron5000 Don't want to single this one out publicly as they're working on it. But there's a *ton* of this kinda stuff going on.

@seaotta Actual impact varies from company to company, but there's a ton of case studies at wpostats.com if that's helpful.

Google used to have an "impact calculator" that could be used for a rough guesstimate (which is what most tools do), but that looks like it's gone now.

@charis hurtful

Friendly reminder that when a third-party provider requires you to load their script in a render-blocking manner, their problems become your problems.

Got an email about a massive performance regression from a past client yesterday. Turns out a third-party provider was (still is) having server issues causing an absolutely massive regression in LCP. Thankfully an easy and quick fix: remove the script.

Always build with resilience in mind.

Me, a professional, who gets paid to help companies for with performance, looking at a popular indoor hydroponics garden company's site, knowing darn well I could just buy the thing:

I wonder if they would give me a free stand if I helped them fix their performance?

@cferdinandi @zachleat Oh dude. Zero worries at all, man. :) Mostly just made me once again wish I was capable of growing a beard like Zach's.
@cferdinandi Man I *wish* I was @zachleat!
