actually legitimately wondering now how that particular part of internet language would have evolved, had English not dropped "thou"

"thou"/"thee" was the singular informal one and "ye"/"you" (yes, they were really swapped like that, it's mildly infuriating) was the plural-or-formal one, like French tu and vous

in Modern Internet English, "u" is informal second person, which means it should have derived from "thee" instead of "you" as it did in our timeline. MIE speakers in this alternate timeline would certainly not refer to their friends as "you", that'd just be fucking *weird*, and so it seems unlikely they would have ever developed "u"

there's no clear way to abbreviate either thee or thou to a single letter. you could maybe do "the" but that road leads only to horrific incomprehensibility

hypothesis: 13375p34k is the only major dialect that does it, using 'k', via thou -> thousand -> kilo -> K.

k just hast to figure out whether that's "thou" or "okay" from context, k?

The Rust project puts out an article about how they're listening to their community https://blog.rust-lang.org/2026/03/20/rust-challenges/

Except it turns out that article was drafted by an LLM https://www.reddit.com/r/rust/comments/1rz15t3/what_we_heard_about_rusts_challenges_and_how_we/obiwu24/

They claim nearly every line was rewritten by a human but I'm not sure how you could send a worse signal to your community about how much you aren't listening than having an LLM draft a post saying we're really listening, honest

I clearly didn't wanted to post it here but as we says in french, c'est la merde.
servers costs are still handled through the KO-FI for now, there had some price increase but it's still ok, thanks again to everyone that donates.

However for housing and stuff at our home it's an absolute mess, price rise since months and years, we now have a roommate that was thrown on the street by her mother, so that's more costs, and after changing electricity company I just got a bill for two and half months instead of one as usual, great, how am I supposed to find 718€...
we also need to move out, because we are three living in a house with only one bedroom, and that is going to be pretty expensive, not counting neither of us has a driving license, which is another set of costs.

anyway, any help is welcome through either our gofund me, or the ko-fi.
Any sharing is welcomed, thank you.

@Khrys I absolutely want this, but I also want some scoping to make it tractable.

The core demand probably needs to be about base system and essential dependencies and a commitment to hold them back at pre-slop versions, adopt forks as soon as viable, or have a procedure for allow-listing particular things that can't be avoided that mandates heavy review on each version bump to check for regressions/vulns.
