Now ChatGPT is being (mis)used to do #PeerReview:

"A reviewer rejected my paper, and instead suggested me to familiarize myself with the following readings. I could not find them anywhere. After a control in GPT-2, my fears where confirmed. Those sources where 99% fake...generated by AI." - Robin Bauwens

@jennybryan a slightly more complicated version of bioconductor standards. One of these days it would be cool if we could all sit down in a room and hammer out “why people tend to find the R ecosystem more welcoming (prof ripley notwithstanding) and how we can tend to keep it that way, even if we like S4”

@freakwater this is the content I am here for. Especially since nobody can post there anymore

We are one week into a busy new term; this semester I'm co-teaching two awesome courses:

STAT 450: Case studies in statistics
https://ubc-stat.github.io/stat-450/

STAT 540: Statistical methods for high-dimensional biology
https://stat540-ubc.github.io/

Excited for all the projects in both!

@akundaje it’s getting to the point where I don’t have to read (bird site) anymore because you post all the interesting stuff here that I might otherwise miss. Appreciate your taking one for the team 😁
@epiellie cool! Even the famous peoples are moving!
@danielzklein @Pwnallthethings yeah it’s already comedy gold. Bringing his mom online to defend him against the mean kids is just the chef’s kiss. Go, apartheid Clyde, go!
Holiday lab dinner reminded me of what’s important in life and in a job. So satisfying to see both past and present trainees kicking ass and taking names.
@lgatto I’m sorry. That sucks.
