Deutsch-österreichisches Seil- und Eisenbahnwesen. Makes trains to nyoooom.

Trying to post interesting stuff about railways, mostly end up doing terrible puns instead.

Follow requests are vibe checked, but don't have particular rules.

also a big  once again. This would have been an amazing feeder for the TER to Mulhouse, but there is no bus from Colmar to Neuf-Brisach for the next 2h which means I'd miss the actual goal of the trip.

So I now have to backtrack to Basel Bad Bf and wait for the end of the closure to go via Freiburg - Breisach. That would have worked out via Mulhouse if Bâle SNCF - St. Louis wasn't also closed.

EuroCity Express to Müllheim im Markgräflerland anyone?

Screenshots from the documentation for a public referendum, held in 2017, about what the situation will look like when the REX (sic) runs half-hourly in 2023.

It also mentions some kind of new data source form SBB that predicts the closure/opening of the barriers, but doesn't specify how exactly this works.

When I was passing by this variable message sign in Goldach today it was turning. The other position has a green label 'geöffnet' and the way to Rorschacherberg is indicated ahead instead of to the right.

Turns out the level crossing ahead is often closed for more than 5min, so it makes sense for drivers to divert in that case. After frequent traffic jams they installed this sign.

Not sure what I think about it, but I wanted to share as I've never seen this anywhere before.

Hbf, Rothe Erde oder West?

Another sunny weekend, another bike trip.

Took the train to Buchs SG, then up the road to Wildhaus and back down to Nesslau. This was the final branch line of the St. Gallen S-Bahn that I was missing. As usual in this part of the world, it was a Thurbo GTW. Feels like they have a hundred of those.

This wasn't a particularly high route or anything, but it feels like mountain summer has finally begun, which I am quite happy about.
