I write build tooling these days and still enjoy making developer's lives easier. I spent 21 years at Sun Microsystems, Inc, working on and around Solaris, and then a while at Joyent.

I do miss the old days a bit, but rose-tinted glasses and all that... I now use FreeBSD on my personal systems where I can. I have many hobbies, one of which is keeping my old Series Land Rover running.

Car numerology:

I'd managed to convince myself that no, I don't need to be looking at other sports cars, and decide to get in the Boxster to get petrol. Looked at the odometer, mileage: 85944.

Gah!

I got home and looked at the odometer again, mileage 85951

Even worse! I'm taking this as merely a coincidence, and should in no way influence bloody anything. Right?

As a kid I learnt to say the alphabet backwards thanks to a trick in a book called "The Whizzkid's Handbook". Adult me taught the trick to my nieces and they loved it... now I've just discovered that the book has been scanned into the Internet Archive and so I can share it with you lovely bunch.
