I love books, nature, sewing, upcycling and baking bread. I'm also a professional, but this account is for sharing the finer things in life. Whenever I have time for them.

She/her from Berlin, Germany.

A quarter into the book, I'm fairly certain I'm right about my suspicion. It's still a cozy read, but I can't help feeling somewhat outraged on behalf of the brave and smart British women who joined the war against the Nazis.

Did anyone here read A. G. May's Resistance Girls? I did enjoy the first book, only some bits were laid on a bit thick. And there was the inevitable romance, of course, no matter how thrilling her life, it cannot be complete without a true love. Blah blah blah...

Now I started reading the 2nd book and it's about a different female recruit. And I wonder: Is this just another series where the girls find "true love" one after the other?

Seriously???

Please, tell me I'm wrong!

I'm in the middle of Antonia Hodgson's "Raven Scholar" and so glad I chose this for my vacation! It is dense and gripping, there's simply no putting it down.

She creates a unique universe that unfolds along with the story. As I'm only half-way through I can't be sure, but it seems that this book, while telling tales of power struggle with amazing twists, is actually about balance. Her wonderfully diverse character set fits right into that.

During the birdsite's heyday, it was a place where we engaged with other people who cared about sending #books to incarcerated #readers. We followed and retweeted #prison book programs in the US, Canada, UK, and France. We also chatted with many of our volunteers and supporters.

We love Mastodon, but are finding it a bit lonely. We would love to follow other groups that send books to people in #prisons. Does anyone have recommendations for whom we should follow?

Boosts welcome.

I'm deeply impressed by Micaiah Johnson's "Space between worlds".

She makes the parallel universes not a mere backdrop but the actual fabric of her story, in which we shift perspective again and again, as we follow along a young woman and survivor on her spectacular travels between worlds.

And of course the fundamental questions that evolve are about identity, choices and circumstances that give or deny you privilege and power.

Hold on tight for this ride, but don't miss it!

Just read Premee Mohamed's "Annual Migration of Clouds" practically in one go and found this little gem of a story was finished way too fast. Now imagine my joy at finding out that there are sequels! Can't wait to see what happens to the brave young woman with her weird parasite in this post-apocalypse world.

Just finished "Faithbreaker", the third book in Hannah Kaner's Godkiller trilogy within only a few days. Couldn' t put it down, it was that good! Although this felt like an ending, I really hope she continues the series.

I absolutely want to read more about this one-legged godkiller mercenary and her friends. I feel we need more stories and heroes like that.

Currently reading Service Model by Adrian Tchaikovsky ( @aptshadow ). Highly enjoyable read about a robot's journey and full of little phrases that make you laugh and cry at the same time:

"The induction had waxed long on the topic of robots [...] replacing human labour, but he hadn't realised that, back in the past, humans had worked so hard to live like robots. The endless round of tasks, the queuing, the utter repetitiveness of these people's lives."

Anyone know the feeling? #bookstodon
