using "alternative" software which isn't as good as the corporate-funded kind (krita, mastodon, matrix) is a form of micro-rebellion. consciously giving up convenience for values is good and everyone should do it sometimes. but also: it's not fair to expect it from anyone all the time, because it's exhausting and people are trying to survive, which in many cases is a rebellion in its own right.
