I feel that writing a blog post also helps you to understand yourself (and the thing you are writing about) better. For example, since writing the mentioned post, I understand much better what had bothered me and why. Writing forces one to think.

@cate I've already provided a source as a reply to my toot. These 10 millions were specifically designated for the new train connection, using a fund financed by airline emission taxes. Because the money is now not used it will at least partially go back to the aviation industry and the rest of the money goes to into the general federal treasury. So no, these 10 millions can't/won't be used for other railway projects.

@attaboy yes haha, great guess! Honestly, I didn't check any flights. I really don't take a plane unless I have to, as I don't want to support the aviation industry, but that's a personal and idealistic choice.

Nonetheless, I only paid €60 and would be surprised if a plane trip would be much cheaper.

@notjustbikes thanks for your most recent video. You are right, it's an absolute shame how there's not nearly enough night trains. I've just booked a night train back from Brussels to Zurich in February and only managed to get a seat instead of a bed. That will be a great start into my week..

And just now, our parliament canceled new night trains to Malmö because 10 million CHF apparently is too much. Guess what, the money goes straight back to the poor aviation industry. What a fucking joke.
