Twitter has disabled users from retweeting, replying or liking tweets that contain a link to Substack. Users suspect it's because Substack is preparing its own microblogging service to rival Twitter. https://www.pcmag.com/news/twitter-disables-retweets-likes-on-posts-with-substack-links
Twitter Disables Retweets, Likes on Posts With Substack Links

The apparent blocking occurs just a few days after Substack announced Notes, a Twitter-like service that lets writers post short-form content.

Everyone I know who works in security has seen Some Stuff. But I've never seen a website that told users you must remove two-factor authentication.

just after mastodon.social, reddit is also down, coincidence or not?

Probably due to #TwitterDown, Mastodon is currently seeing an increase in new users to around 1000 new users per hour, from the normal recent baseline of around 300. This is nowhere close to previous surges which reached as high as over 5000 per hour.

As has been noted, many users created accounts here and drifted back to Twitter. It seems many of these existing accounts are reenergized, so the actual impact of this latest meltdown may be greater than the numbers indicate.

Congratulations, 0 on being the best number.

Twitter just announced free access to the Twitter API will end on February 9, with unannounced pricing or usage details, effectively killing every free fun and useful thing ever built with it: bots, games, mashups, visualizations, research projects, autoposters, autoblockers, deleters, and so much more. https://twitter.com/twitterdev/status/1621026986784337922

“Starting February 9, we will no longer support free access to the Twitter API, both v2 and v1.1. A paid basic tier will be available instead 🧵”
