mmmm groceries

Intellectually, I know these 2 things go together, but as to HOW?

I am not using any guides or tutorials so this will most likely be hilarious.

Gotta make sure the tractor is stocked.

Been working on converting slides to digital with my digital camera, some macro rings, and a light box.

Learned a LOT in the process.

With macro rings, focal plane is like...a millimeter. So I have to make sure the camera is EXACTLY level on all planes so that I can get the entire image in focus.

Then, because of variations in the cardboard thickness, I have to refocus each time.

Ended up using the hdmi out on my camera for the first time to help adjust focus.

Also, the person who did these slides, was not good at focusing, so a lot of these were fuzzy to begin with, which complicates capture even more!

Wanted a super light laptop to use as a RDP/SSH client. Dusted off my old Asus T100TA tablet.

Surprisingly, Windows 10 runs ok on a 32 bit, 2gb device.

Alas, Signal is x64 only, so I'll be committed to the "RDP and SSH" part.

Got a nice dip in power after removing 10 hard drives. Nothing earth shattering, but definitely a nice change.

Infra = servers, reolink NVR, poe switch, various smart home things, i5 opnsense box, and fiber "modem".

Got my wife a chair for her vanity for Christmas.

The box seemed to be deeply concerned about how it was opened.

For tonight's Home Lab fun, I set up a Grafana dashboard pulling data from InfluxDB/Home Assistant to display temperature and air quality metrics.

My office is toasty since the door is shut, and I've got my server and desktop running in there. If I open the door, it'll cool off quickly. Doesn't get much hotter than 80 so far, thankfully.

Sensors include: SmartThings Multipurpose (for temps), AirThings View Plus (for Particulates/radon/etc), and Honeywell T10 for humidity.

So that 5G ultra seems to live up to the hype.

Also running IPSEC in Opnsense is pretty dang fast too. Got it running on an i5 box and these are the speeds I'm getting on my phone to it.

Using StrongSwan on a Samsung 22 Ultra. All in all, good experience.

An addendum. Screen seems glare free:
