Happy Pride y'all. Our queer and trans history has so often been stolen from us, erased, & distorted. A while back I made a music video that gives a bit of a punk rock history lesson on the Compton's Cafeteria Riot and Stonewall. Give it a share today? https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/transgender-day-visibility-evan-greer-music-video-1149169/

there were 5 covid tests in the same size box that in the U.S. only contains 2 tests?? it’s been said but is worth repeating: we’re all getting scammed
I’m in Toronto for work right now and my throat was hurting so I walked to a pharmacy to get a covid test and they just had a pile of them for free at the very front of the store?!? as in, you can just grab some and leave!?! Intellectually, I am not surprised by this but having experienced it firsthand as an American was surprisingly overwhelming.

So for over a week now Elon Musk's circle of friends have been going on and on insisting that Bob Lee's killer was obviously an unhoused individual and blaming the city for not jailing more people.

Now, it turns out that the guy who killed him was another tech exec who knew him, and they were originally in a car together.

I'm very pleased to see that @bitwarden has rectified a security issue I reported to them in an upcoming release. Password managers should not fill in password forms for sites that use HTTPS when the site being filled is HTTP. I reported this bug to a few companies, but I have not seen any action on this problem from any other than BitWarden. Apple doesn't apparently even think it is a problem... For more details on my research see https://news.sophos.com/en-us/2021/11/22/password-managers-can-make-your-network-more-secure-but-mind-the-gaps/ #InfoSec
Password managers can make your network more secure – but mind the gaps

New proposed FTC rule: for any recurring subscription you must be able to cancel via the same channel and number of steps as the initial purchase. Fantastic.

My latest at WIRED: Today the FBI admitted to buying cellphone location data that US companies claimed was gathered to personalize online ads -- data the bureau would've otherwise required a warrant to obtain

Dir. Wray says it was purchased for a classified pilot program "some time" ago

The FBI Just Admitted It Bought US Location Data

Rather than obtaining a warrant, the bureau purchased sensitive data—a controversial practice that privacy advocates say is deeply problematic.
