There is an app called Stuff, that is a literal Things ripoff.

I found out about it from a feature by Apple

😔

It looks like it is trending to have a half-baked product, and when you try to contact support, you get a completely out of context AI answer, with no way to contact a real human.
But it looks like that is the future.
Today we had a fire alarm in the office. A colleague wrote to a Slack channel 'Fire alarm in the office building', to start a thread if somebody knows any details. We have AI assistant Glean integrated into the Slack, and it answered privately to her: "today's siren is just a scheduled test and you do not need to leave your workplace". It was not a test or a drill, it was a real fire alarm. Someday, AI will kill us.

I think I will go insane. I have an app that supports all orientations. One view controller should support only portrait. I added:

override var supportedInterfaceOrientations: UIInterfaceOrientationMask {
return .portrait
}

override var shouldAutorotate: Bool {
return false
}

That works on iPhone, but not on the iPad. 🤷‍♂️

Adobe is now processing all your PDFs in the cloud, by default. The setting to “Enable generative AI features in Acrobat” was on, and I didn’t know it until I opened a document and Adobe asked me if I wanted a document summary. It’s annoying to have to click “No,” so I opened settings to disable the prompt.

THE PROBLEM
I sign Non-Disclosure Agreements for many of my clients. Adobe is a potential leak of protected information. I don’t know what Adobe does with this information. I don’t know what they store, or for how long. I don’t know what country (or countries) the data is stored in. I don’t know what LLMs are trained with this data. And I don’t need to know. What I need to know is that they won’t use default opt-in as a legal excuse to wiretap my information.

I recommend that you check your Adobe settings on all devices, for all Adobe accounts.

#Iceland tested a reduced workweek 2014-2019:

”A pair of trials covering 1.3 per cent of the Icelandic workforce revealed that slashing weekly hours led to better employee #wellbeing, with less stress and burnout, while #productivity stayed the same or improved. The positive results sparked union pressure in Iceland, and now 86% of Icelandic workers either work shorter weeks or have the right to ask to do so.“

Edit: The initial source was misleading, so I replaced it and adjusted the quote. Also see: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four-day_workweek#Iceland

Iceland’s shorter working week has been a huge success – and it’s changed my family’s life

For 90% of working Icelanders, a 36-hour week means less stress, more job satisfaction and time to enjoy life beyond work, says teacher María Hjálmtýsdóttir

The Guardian

84% of AI projects failing entirely or failing to scale, and 64% of CEO's still throwing money at them.

Pretty obvious what part of the company needs to be replaced.

As Klarna flips from AI-first to hiring people again, a new landmark survey reveals most AI projects fail to deliver

Just 1 in 4 AI investments bring in the ROI they promise—but CEOs just can’t resist the technology.

When I'm rich I'm going to open up a bar for VIP iOS developers called The Status Bar.
Went to Santa Cruz Bicycles HQ today for a factory tour. It's impressive how small they are. There are only ~5 people working on bike assembly. Photos and videos were not allowed in the factory.
