New #adhd screening test:

1) How many times must you trip over something you have "left in an obvious place to remind you to put it away properly" and nearly die before you actually put it away properly?

2) Does the idea of "leaving something in an obvious place to remind you to put it away properly" make complete, logical sense to you?

The sock puppet is back. *sigh*

What a year, huh?

Lemon, it's February.

The tension between caring about your child's health, and feeling slightly awkward about leaning on a friendship in order to maybe see a specialist a bit sooner than you might be able to otherwise.

Me: OK, I'm finally psyched up enough to sit down and get stuck into some work. Let's do it!

Work: Here's a minor inconvenience.

Me: Oof. Well, that's me out and spiralling for the next hour or so...

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies has no business being this beautifully shot.

That fun #adhd parenting thing where your child displays all of the #adhd behaviours you were taught to despise in yourself, resulting in your own complete cognitive meltdown as you try to overcome the ingrained disgust of those behaviours while simultaneously trying to be compassionate and understanding and helpful...

Also, them being a teenager and assuming Mum & Dad are idiots who couldn't possibly be of use isn't helping.

My daughter, who has had a degree in computer science for 25 years, posted this observation about ChatGPT on Facebook. It's the best description I've seen:

Maybe this is just me, but I suspect it is very GenX:

On one hand, I'm very glad that the things we had to just suck up as kids (neurodivergence, mental health, chronic health issues, etc.) are being taken more seriously nowadays, so that the young'ns don't have to put up with the shit we went through.

On the other hand, sometimes it can be hard not to feel taken advantage of by someone who could *really* stand to grow up, stop wallowing in their diagnoses and just suck it up once in a while.
