Taking Care of Business

I don't like how #DLSS5 looks, but I love what it's done to the internet. Some of the funniest stuff I've seen in a long time.
A.I. musicians are COOKED. I just recorded an ENTIRE SONG using nothing but my instruments and a few microphones. This would have cost upwards of hundreds of dollars in expensive A.I. subscription fees but for me it was completely FREE. Don't get left behind. This is the future!

AI agent "contributes" PR to matplotlib.
PR gets rejected.
AI agent *writes and publishes blog to shame the maintainer*.

What a time to be alive.

If you’re a @phanpy fan using an iPhone or iPad, and you’re in the EU or Japan (where @altstore PAL is available), good news 👀

I’ve made a native iOS build that you can install right now through AltStore PAL! It's called... iPhanpy.

It’s still Phanpy at its core, just without the usual iOS PWA headaches. It feels smoother, stays longer in memory, and even comes with a neat Liquid Glass app icon.

If you have AltStore PAL installed, you can copy the link below and add it as a source inside AltStore:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/matfantinel/iphanpy/refs/heads/main/altstore/source.json

And if you don't have access to AltStore PAL, no worries: it's gonna be available on the App Store soon!

Gosh darnit macOS 26 keeps trashing an app that we developed internally for productivity because suddenly it decided that our app "contains Malware". We built it ourselves and have been using it for 5 years. I even did "xattr -d com.apple.quarantine", and overrode system security settings to allow applications from "Anywhere". Still trashed every time.

Let us run our computers that we paid money to purchase, with software that we paid our own staff to develop. Why is this a problem now?

Tim Cook and Sundar Pichai are cowards

Apple and Google have left X in their app stores, despite its AI-generated images that violate their own rules. There are no principles left in Silicon Valley.

@nelson I am blind. Seeing people who think I'm not worth the effort fill my timeline with AltBot generated AI stuff that isn't even accurate in lots of cases.

Human alt text is always better, because it doesn´t focus on ocular seeing. Seeing people think, and AltBot was designed around that notion, that blind people must compensate for missing "eye-seeing", but that's not the case. I am interested in the meaning of an image to you, its maker or publisher.

Again, human alt text is better, also because it strengthens reciprocity between seeing and blind people. AltBot doesn't but it makes seeing people believe they have done their bit for accessibility. In actuality, the reverse is often true.

Can’t really recommend Elementary OS strongly enough.

It’s so, so good at what it’s doing. For 30€, it’s an unbeatable deal.

It’s been a couple years since I ripped my #Wii and #Gamecube games. Been playing them more on my #SteamDeck and it’s just amazing.

No accounts, no syncing, no singing in of any variety. I just boot up the game and play.

I wish more games let me just play instead of hassling me and trying to track my every move.

Trying to join the Apple Developer Program as an indie and being blocked by an unexplained automated decision.
