because... I've been busy setting up page where #FOSS projects can request free design work for me.

mostly icon related for now as it helps me plan. UI design will come later once I figure out what that process will look like and it's a much bigger time investment.

have a look! ✨

Design Services – Planet Peanut Studio

Hello! I'm Hylke Bons. I'm a product designer who codes. I design and build software. Both how it looks, and how it works. I love working with people from all over the world.

this week's app icon is for myself.

@thibaultamartin recently posted about his experience with Typst. I haven't written anything significant since my Uni days. Recently my son's had to struggle with a MS Word project. I ended up mad that nothing has changed since my own experience with Word & Open/Libre Office and been drawn to and experimented with Typst too. Since then I've bumped into a nice GNOME App, Typesetter, that should lubricate all the initial friction you might have with Typst. It's neat.

@sri @cassidy @thibaultamartin I need to start gathering testimonials from people about how shockingly stable they found GNOME OS and how it was not a big deal in the end.

You should totally try it, you have all the people you need on speedial anyway 😆

@liaizon @jackperkins @gnome that error looks weird, what version/distro/setup is that?

but yes, in general it's always good to file issues. in this case you can probably file it against nautilus, and worst case people can move it to whatever lower level component makes sense.

Making users go through configuration steps because providing working defaults is "limiting user freedom" is a rather particular idea of freedom.

@entreprecariat one repercussion of the oil industry is that cute toddlers travel by car to visit their grandparents.

So, it turns out the German implementation of eIDAS (electronic ID wallet for e.g. age attestation) will require an Apple/Google account to function

Absolutely pathetic

This Week in @gnome is a superb resource to discover gems like Wildcard, the local regex explainer app.

@haeckerfelix curates the community entries on his own, and publishes them on the @gnome Foundation infra.

He single handedly built the website and the bot to curate reports. Massive props to him for that!
