Ok, so.

Tweets look really good when you send them in Messages on iOS/macOS. Mastodon posts… don’t. So I built a little tool that makes them much nicer to look at:

https://mstdn.link

Add ?to={any Mastodon post URL} to the end of that domain and when you send it to a friend, you get the nice looking preview. Of course the page makes it easy to paste a URL in. And there’s a Shortcut to make it even easier on iOS or macOS.

the pta needs to seriously work on their messaging...
If you're affected by the Google layoffs then firstly I'm sorry at the whole awful situation. If we've worked together then please let me know if you need any assistance, a recommendation, referral letter or just someone to vent to.

I often am asked by people fleeing anti-trans states, "where should I move to?"

I created the anti-trans legislative risk map to help answer that question.

I am releasing my first post-election legislative risk map today. Subscribe to support my work.

These are the states to watch in the 2022-2023 legislative cycle for anti-trans laws.

Unfortunately I have to stop actively working on #Metatext for a while due to health issues. I really wish I could implement Mastodon 4 features and squash every bug, but it's not possible for me to do so right now.

I know the app has become important to a lot people, so I'm open to a new maintainer who can carry on its values of privacy and accessibility taking it over if there's interest and a fit. Email [email protected] if you (or your organization) are interested

I already boosted, but once again, go check out “Choosing Algorithms : We Live in a Society” by @maya at https://maya.land/responses/2022/11/28/we-live-in-a-society.html - it’s a response to my “Protect Me From What I Want”.

It highlights big issues in algorithm choice, e.g.: “Show me what I want vs what I’d like to want vs what’s good for me.” and worry that sophisticated algorithms will be gamed (will be *built to be gamed*) by the wrong people. Nicely written.

Also includes tasty bread and adorable typography.

Wow, after 25 years of Unix experience, I learned that you can filter output in #less.

Press ampersand (&) and enter a regex to show only lines matching the regex.

Press ampersand (&) and then exclamation mark (!) to apply an inverse filter.
