I finally got a flash for macro photography! Haven't had time to use it a whole lot (a lot of rain and busy with work) but I did get these shots when visiting my grandfather.
Some more springtime flowers!

A few moss photos from the past few months!
The first one here is new, and the other two are a bit older.

Flowers are finally coming out for springtime!
These are unedited JPGs from my camera - I've been experimenting with this kind of photography a lot more this year, because I want to improve my basic skills - rather than relying on editing to fix mistakes or make improvements.

Sea wall night photos 1/2
It's always kind of hard to get the colours right when editing night shots from the city. In the daytime, it's easy enough - sunlight is usually a predictable colour, and beyond that it's mostly just a question of stylization. At night though, most of the light comes from artificial sources, so there's no single gauge to easily base everything on and it ends up being much more of a guessing game.

Washed up boat in English Bay.
This is a pretty common sight on the beaches around here after winter storms, and it's always kind of sad to see - but makes for some unique photos at least.
Another macro bug - with a very small depth of field, because it was moving around too much for me to close the aperture more (which would mean I'd need a slower shutter speed, creating motion blur).
This is a beetle in the genus Ellychnia, which is actually a kind of firefly - but since they're diurnal instead of nocturnal, they don't glow like other fireflies. I think they still look pretty unique though!

Flat backed millipede and springtail in Stanley Park!
Catching the millipede while it was sitting still was probably the most difficult part of this - it kept running around and making my photos blurry.
