The "innovators" ran out of steam a long time ago. "Something you already have but now worse and for high rent" isn't the sales pitch people are looking for. But tech literally has nothing else.
Years ago, the previous owner of the village drug store decided to do this massive expansion into a hardware store too. The current owner doesn't want to do hardware and is selling all the inventory off so now I got two new pliers, a screwdriver, and a cable crimper.
