@atpfm google has just sent me email saying that bakcing up my photos in my Apple Photo Library via Google Desktop is not going to be supported anymore. There are ways to do batch transfers from your Mac using the photos.google.com web app, or using Apple's transfer service, but you have to initiate it. And, if you rely on your phone, you have to make sure the Google Photos app stays open. I am PISSED.

He looked right at me, and I could tell he wanted to make an obscene gesture, but he shook it off.

Former major league infielder and manager Phil Garner dies at 76

Phil Garner, a three-time All-Star infielder who went on to manage the Houston Astros to their first World Series appearance, has died. He was 76. Garner’s family issued a statement Sunday saying Garner had died Saturday after a two-plus-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Nicknamed “Scrap Iron” for his blue-collar approach to the game, Garner had a 16-year playing career with the Oakland Athletics, Pittsburgh Pirates, Astros, Los Angeles Dodgers and San Francisco Giants.

He was traded from the Houston Astros to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1987 while the Dodgers were in Houston. I went to his first game as a Dodger with my Dad, and I we scored field level seats. In the second inning, he threw a ground ball into the stands past first base. After the play stopped and the pitcher got the ball back, and the crowd quieted down a little bit, I yelled out big and loud, "Nice throw, Phil!". (2/3)

I will be eligible for social security in a couple of weeks. Despite being nowhere near retirement, I am considering starting it because there is a non-zero chance I will outlive the program.
