Teaching was my first love. Packets were my second.

I make classes to teach people how to defend themselves against hackers. In my spare time, I teach college students to compete in cybersecurity competitions, or try to take back my home automation from the cloud.

A reminder that one of the reasons people love AI as you can ask it to justify any dipshit idea and it'll just write whole documents about it being a great idea, write the PowerPoint decks, the Capex requests etc.

One of the many problems is people don't realise they're a dipshit, and giving them an infinite bullshit machine to flood the zone with makes it almost impossible to argue against - you're pissing in the wind.

It occurred to me today that LLM tools are providing a means of DoSing our time and attention via amplification. A small prompt provides a very large output (paragraphs of slop) that are presented to our minds as pre-LLM articles/images/videos/etc. causing our brains to use up cycles engaging with the material. Multiply this x 100,000 and it's clear that mental exhaustion is inevitable.
Sometimes the poems I write aren’t the ones I intend to write.

LOVE this article from my man @zackwhittaker:

“Age verification laws are a lazy way for politicians and governments to appear as if they are tackling online child safety, but without any forethought to the future consequences of amassing vast banks of personal information for verifying people's identities. Rather than holding the ultra-wealthy tech and social media giants accountable for their actions, cowardly and toothless governments are instead requiring ordinary people to shoulder the legal burden. These are the same tech companies that don't pay any tax, all the while governments let them get away with it.”

Papers, please: Age verification laws threaten everyone's online security and privacy

Laws that require adults to upload their driver's licenses or passports to access apps, websites, and VPNs will make the entire web less safe.

Someone once told me he felt like conservative voices weren't welcome on Mastodon, but I said he was being ridiculous—there are lots of Democrats here!

Fun fact: the time it takes us to create one comic is roughly the same as a transatlantic flight. Except there are no free drinks, no movies and the turbulence is emotional.

If you've ever wished you could buy us that airplane tomato juice: Patreon is basically that, but better.

You'll get exclusive comics, behind-the-scenes content, and the warm feeling of keeping two sleep-deprived artists alive!
