In the “olden days” of the internet, you could just add .json to endpoints and start getting structured data immediately. Then everything became “corporate”. First it was “dev accounts” then it was “paid access” then it was “no access” (see Reddit). MCPs have been a way for me to start getting structured data again, this time for LLMs. It’s been really cool to experiment with! #programming #ai #webdev

I've been experimenting with a code-generation workbench, opencode, llama-swap, llama-server on used hardware, an old "gaming PC" with a partially defective Geforce RTX 3060Ti. It's sufficient for running a 4 bit quant of Qwen-4.5-9b with a 64K KV cache. This is the kind of setup that sometimes just works. My benchmark is "write a simple BASIC interpreter in C". This quickly spins out of control, and that's good since it's a chance to learn dealing with limitations of the technology.
