@stilgherrian The best advice I can give to Zoe and Johanna is to leave Australia and set up their public policy institute in Sweden instead.
They will never have a win here.
Even if their proposals get nods, they'll be so butchered by the legislative process that they'll fail in implementation.
Australia doesn't do tech policy successfully. We have uniform monotonic failure.
If you want to do tech policy, and you're smart, do it literally anywhere else.
But not here. All we'll ever do is blurt.

Dear National Broadcaster.
The richest woman in Australia has no expertise in war, international or domestic law. She is a private person with no qualifications beyond a high school certificate and an inherited fortune.
What she thinks of Ben Roberts Smith is for her private musings. It is not news and there is no requirement for you to publish her missives on it.
Steady the ship.
My @smh cartoon.
The multimillionaires who staff the Reserve Bank of Australia have decided more unemployment is a good idea.
They all have enough money to ensure their children won’t have to work, probably their grandchildren.
They can’t imagine what it is to have to choose between heat and healthy food, having already lost all the things that provide status and comfort in our society.
One really big thing I want to see in my lifetime - the mainstream acceptance that the central bank *simply cannot* fix inflation by raising rates.
It’s utter lunacy and it hurts millions of people. And it just doesn’t work.
Today is the day, the EU decides on Chat Control 1.0. Will they let the Trojan Horse through the gate and let Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn etc continue to scan all your messages?
We at Tuta say NO.
❌ No scanning
❌ No mass surveillance
❌ No age verification
Instead we fight for:
✅ Encryption
✅ Privacy
✅ Open Source
And so should the EU. Stop #ChatControl now! 🥊
